The gentleman’s cruiser embodied. The R29 is the purest expression of Rapsody’s philosophy: a 29-foot (8.85 m) day-cruiser of timeless design, born of the Makkum yard in Friesland (Netherlands) founded in 1999. Nearly 400 Rapsody yachts have left that yard in two decades – the R29 is one of the founding models, the one that defined the brand’s signature: a classic silhouette inspired by Scandinavian launches, long low lines, polished mahogany and teak exterior finishes, polished chrome and stainless steel, noble wood interior. Originally wood-built, the hull moved to fibreglass in the OC-F and OC-FF derivatives, with no compromise on the original aesthetic.
Original architecture. Polyester sandwich hull, 29 feet (8.85 m) length, Volvo Penta D3 inboard thermal motor with three power options – 130, 160 or 200 horsepower – cruising speed between 16 and 24 knots depending on configuration. Inside: 2+2 berths, head, shower, galley and convertible saloon. The archetypal weekend boat for two and elegant day outings.
The Lanéva conversion. The R29 is an almost ideal retrofit candidate: a recent modern hull that eases mechanical integration, moderate original power (so reasonable electric output to substitute), perfectly predictable usage profile (day outings, coastal weekends, moderate distances). Electric motor of 80 to 130 kW depending on the original power, battery pack of 60 to 100 kWh, telemetry supervision. Speed and character of the original fully preserved, range sized for a typical day of use with overnight recharging.

Electric pushes that logic to its conclusion: no more engine noise to contradict the calm of the lines, no more odour to remind you of the mechanics under the deck, no more fill-ups. What remains is the object – mahogany, teak, chrome – and the rare sensation of moving through a yacht that has truly understood its time.
